Abstract

The research topics of asst. prof. Danjela Kuscer include synthesis of inorganic ceramic materials with tailored properties, processing of thick-film structures with screen-, ink-jet printing and electrophoretic deposition and characterisation of powders, dispersions , bulk ceramic and thick films. She studies complex-chemical composition piezoelectric materials and structures applicable for electromechanical devices such as sensors, actuators and transducers. Part of her work is related to the synthesis and patterning of transparent-conductive oxides for thin-film transistors.

In the field of EPD, our research work is oriented toward developing procedure to process homogeneous and reliable piezoelectric thick-films with tailored microstructure and thicknesses on flat and non-flat substrates. By careful control of morphology of the powder, properties of the dispersion, deposition conditions and sintering procedure, we have succeeded to process piezoelectric thick-film structure on electroded non-flat substrates with tailored thickness and density.
From the application point of view, Danjela Kuščer cooperates with François Rebalais University of Tours from France in the field of ultrasound transducers. They have developed the ultrasound device based on lead-zirconium-titanate thick film prepared by EPD on non-flat substrate. Ultrasound device operates at high-frequencies and is characterised by high-sensitivity. It is used for high-frequency medical imaging (skin, eyes).
