Abstract

Professor Matsuda received Dr. Eng. in 1992 from Osaka Prefecture University, the thesis tile was “Preparation of Coating Films by the Sol-Gel Method and Application to Fine-Patterning Process for Optical Memory Disk Substrates.” He worked at Nippon Sheet Glass Co. Ltd. from 1987 to 1997 as a research engineer. He moved to Osaka Prefecture University in 1997 and worked as Lecturer. In 2002, he transferred to Toyohashi University of Technology. He has been studying the electrophoretic sol-gel deposition and the applications. His research interests include (1) micro/nanopattering on inorganic-organic hybrid films, (2) photocatalytic titania nanocoatings via hot-water-treatment, (3) functional thick films of nanohybrids and nanosheets via electrophoretic deposition (EPD), (4) functional ultra-thin multi-coatings via layer-by-layer assembly (LbL), (5) ion-conductive materials for electrochemical devices, (6) mechanochemical synthesis of nanocrystalline composites, etc. Matsuda received several Awards including Ulrich Award with respect to sol-gel science and technology in 2001 and Academic Achievement Award from The Ceramic Society of Japan in 2011. He has been a member of a lot of academic societies and serving as an editorial board member of some international journals in materials science including Journal of Sol-Gel Science and Technology.
